Generation Wellness and Partners Support LA Educators After the Fires

professional development resiliency social/emotional learning spotlight training trauma-informed well-being

After the LA wildfires, Generation Wellness joined forces with key partners to support the educators and mental health professionals helping schools and communities heal. In March, we led trauma-informed trainings in the Los Angeles area, sharing practical, brain-based tools to reduce stress, rebuild safety, and restore connection.

“When a disaster strikes, schools often carry the weight of emotional recovery,” said Lyndsay Morris, founder of Generation Wellness. “These trainings were designed to meet this moment with action, empathy, and science-backed tools, but we needed a team to make this all happen quickly!”

The Partners Who Made These Trainings Possible

  • Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) offered training venues and activated their network to ensure access for fire-impacted school staff across the region.
  • California Association of School Counselors (CASC) promoted the training, ensuring that school counselors, psychologists, and social workers directly serving students were able to participate.
  • World Vision generously provided well-being kits for every participant, filled with trauma-informed tools to support emotional wellness back on campus.
  • Compassion It gifted every attendee a Compassion It bracelet, a symbol and daily reminder to practice compassion with both students and themselves.
  • The Well Mind Project played a crucial role in processing donations and sponsorships, allowing every participant to attend at no cost.
  • Individual donors whose generosity powered this entire effort.

It truly takes a village and we’re grateful for each partner who helped bring this vision to life!

"We truly needed this. We're leaving with practical strategies we can use both in daily challenges and during crisis. It was an experience that felt genuinely life-changing,” shared a participant.

From understanding how trauma impacts the brain to practicing real-time regulation strategies, participants left feeling empowered, supported, and ready to lead their school communities toward healing and lasting wellness.

Looking Ahead: Join the Movement

This is just the beginning of the "Teach Peace" movement. With the support of a statewide grant aimed at strengthening youth mental health, Generation Wellness and its partners are expanding trauma-informed trainings across Los Angeles and throughout California. More schools are embracing healing-centered practices that create safe, supportive spaces for students and staff. We invite you to be part of this growing movement.

Together, we’re building a future where every school can be a place of healing, connection, and hope.
